Javier started playing the violin at age three, moved to the piano at seven, the saxophone at 12 and guitar at 14. "I feel very fortunate to have found my calling in life! I still believe that music has the power to save the world, and that we all need to get together on this and raise the global consciousness because there are other people out there who feel the same way!" Born in Monclova, Coahuila, Mexico, and raised on the "Westside" of St. Paul, Minnesota, a multicultural community, Javier Trejo embodies what it is to be Latino growing up in the Midwest. Singer, songwriter and guitarist for The Beads and now guitarist and co-vocalist for New Primitives (in addition to fronting his own "Little Santana"-like trio, Javier has opened and played with some of the United States' finest acts including: The Neville Brothers, Widespread Panic, The Big Wu, Willie Waldman Project, Big Brother and the Holding Company, and Los Lobos. Just so we're clear; the Javier Trjo Trio will perform at Lakota Hemp Days, then Javier will play and sing with New Primitives. We get to see a truly masterful guitarist play widely different styles, as well as listen to Javier's singing, a blues voice that makes you ache. ------------------------------------------ The Crazy Horse singers originated in the late 1960s and consisted of singers and drummers from the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, South Dakota. Along their paths the drum experienced many trials and tribulations and most of these singers have passed on to the spirit world. It was through two of these original members, Leroy Looks Twice and Chris Eagle Hawk, that we have the present Crazy Horse Singers. Since 1986 the present day Crazy Horse has journeyed across the native lands. Most of them have transformed from passionate radical youths to conservative middle aged men with families to provide and care for.
